top five songs of the week {march 30th-april 5th}

after thinking and thinking of a weekly post i could do on this blog, i finally have an idea. living in the live musical capital had actually inspired me {so thanks atx} by doing my top five songs of the week.

one of my favorite local radio stations that i listen to 100% in the car is 93.3 kgsr. it had all my favorite kinds of music. from coldplay to sara bareilles to pharrel. what's better is they have a free downloadable app and you can stream online on their website. 4/5 of these songs are actually from listening to kgsr, so if you end up liking these, give it a listen. :)

1. heaven by the walkmen

i actually first heard this song on monday at the end of the himym finale. maybe it's the song lyrics that made me cry, who knows, but i love and cannot get enough of this song! i hear it and just see a montage of himym clips in my head. other than that, i think of all the memories i have. so, when high school is over, and i make a video, the song may or may not be on it... ;) the opening to the song is so  to enchanted and that is why i perhaps love this song. :)

2. the giving tree by plain white t's
if you love shel silverstein as much as i do, you'll love this song. the title of the same name, actually inspired plain white t's to write this song. when i hear this song, i always want to make a cover of it with my own twist of the cup song beat. i love tom higgenson's soothing voice in other songs such as hey there delilah and rhythm of love and espeically in this song!

3. raging fire by phillip phillips
season 11 american idol winner, phillip phillips is one of my favorite winners since david cook. with home and gone, gone, gone, i knew i from the start of this song i would love it. was i right? of course! this song actually makes me think of mulan, but like lots of phillip phillip songs, it makes me want to dance.

4. girls chase boys by ingrid michaelson
i love the indie sound of ingrid michaelson. her newest single, girls chase boys has a cool beat to it and it actually sounds like a girls' over powerment to ex boyfriends. you go, girls!

5. take me to the church by hozier
i have heard this song so many times the past week. funny thing is, i first heard this song on my way to church last sunday. from my understanding of the lyrics, it sounds like the singer doesn't fully believe in god, but it also sorta addresses the christian stereotypes. i actually like it because a couple of weeks ago we were talking about the christian stereotypes.

well that does my top five songs of the week. i am hoping to do this next saturday!! if you have any suggestions, please let me know, for i love listening to new things as well. :)
